Environmental Monitoring

Exposure Surveying Ltd provide a range of environmental monitoring solutions designed specifically for your project. The data is analysed, enabling an holistic approach to remediation to be implemented.

Remote monitoring has become the most cost effective solution to long term monitoring requirements.

Data containing readings of the moisture content of timber and masonry, humidity levels and other relevant information can be remotely monitored by placing sensors in ‘at risk areas’, which capture and transmit the data to our offsite computer. These sensors can be configured to take readings at predetermined parameters, specific to each situation and an alarm will then alert us should environmental conditions conspire to put elements of the property at risk.

The data is continuously analysed over a chosen period (a month, a year or permanently) which provides a detailed record of any changes in the built environment.

Applications

Remote monitoring proves economical when repeated site visits would normally be necessary, such as during a dry rot investigation. Remedial repairs undertaken after the dry rot was diagnosed, can be analysed to confirm that the remediation has been successful.

Similarly, remote monitoring is invaluable when analysing environmental conditions responsible for condensation problems. Whole properties can be monitored to assess the condensation source and the impact it has on other areas under observation.

Post fire and flood monitoring

After fire or flood damage, data loggers can be installed to monitor the drying of the building. It is vital that the drying of the building is achieved in a controlled manner, not hurried or delayed but appropriately managed.

By utilising data loggers in vulnerable or unused buildings, the early detection of defects can prevent potentially expensive repairs.
